Wiz Khalifa Says 'Roll Up' Is 'For Guys To Sing To Chicks'

Oh, that Wiz Khalifa is so clever.
The "Black and Yellow" star followed up his breakout single, which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with "Roll Up."
When he spoke to MTV News late last year, he teased the song as a nod to his favorite pastime — his album is called Rolling Papers, after all. "The next single is called 'Roll Up,' surprisingly," he coyly explained with a laugh.
The song, however, is anything but smoke-inducing: It's more of the skirt-chasing variety. "I was trying to be funny, be clever as possible," Wiz told us recently on the set of the video for "Roll Up." "It's for the chicks. It's for guys to sing to chicks. And it's just a fun song."
In the clip, directed by Jake Davis (Drake and Trey Songz's "Successful"), Wiz said he is "courting a female that I'm into." Instead of real-life love interest Amber Rose, however, the Pittsburgh rapper has his sights set on the female lead in the video, Bad Boy recording artist Cassie. "It's really, really awesome," Wiz said of her casting.
After being named one of MTV News' 11 for '11 celebrities to look out for in the new year, Wiz has managed to put a lot on his plate. He's gracing the cover of the new Rolling Stone, he's scheduled to start the Green Carpet Tour next month, and he and Snoop Dogg are finishing up their "High School" movie and music joint effort.
But first, Wiz has to drop his album — Rolling Papers, his major-label debut, is set for a March 29 release — after a long rise to stardom for the former underground favorite.
"I been waiting to put an album out for a long time," he said. "But I feel like now my sound, at this point, has grown and matured and it's right where it needs to be at for people to get that perfect pull and debut record from me. I'm ready to deliver."

'The Adjustment Bureau': The Reviews Are In!

Emily Blunt the garden gnome squares off against Emily Blunt the ballerina at the box office this weekend. Her toe-tapping dancer in "The Adjustment Bureau," which opened on Friday (March 4), will handily beat her animated statue from "Gnomeo & Juliet," a cinematic holdover from last month.
"Adjustment Bureau" stars Matt Damon as a one-time Senate front-runner who falls in love with Blunt's ballerina on the night he loses the election. One twist of fate later, Damon finds out that there are supernatural forces — slickly dressed "adjusters," played by the likes of John Slattery and Anthony Mackie — controlling everyone's lives and conspiring to keep him away from Blunt. That doesn't sit so well with Damon, who sets about fighting against these forces in an effort to keep his romance alive.

For all the "Captain America" fans who have been excited by the teaser trailer and magazine features, there have been just as many complaints about the fact that not much has yet been seen of the film's chief and formidable villain, Red Skull.
Luckily for those folks, Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at genre-film favorite Hugo Weaving all red and scary-looking.
EW also scored a meaty interview with the film's director, Joe Johnston, in which he addresses a wide range of subjects, including why a superhuman can be sympathetic, the politics of Captain America (played by Chris Evans) and how much he had to think about Joss Whedon's spin-off film "The Avengers."
"What I like is he's not a superhero in the true sense of the word," Johnston explained of how Steve Rogers/ Captain America is unlike Superman or Spider-Man. "He becomes a superhero but doesn't have any superpowers. He is just the best possible human specimen. Imagine the fastest, strongest Olympian athlete. Add 30 percent. That's Steve Rogers."
Regarding the character's historic and politically charged past (the first issue of the Marvel comic featured the now-famous cover image of Captain America punching Hitler in the jaw), Johnston said that although his film is indeed a period piece, it isn't a "flag waver."
"He was created as a propaganda tool, but he soon became much more than that," Johnston told the magazine. "There are all these incarnations over the decades, but the film is not a flag waver. It's about a guy who wants to do the right thing. And that transcends all nationalities and borders."
Finally, there has been much ado over the fact that several characters who have and will have their own standalone films will come together for Whedon's highly anticipated "Avengers" movie.
"I really didn't [think about it]," Johnston said. "Because this was a period film, because this was the origin story, I didn't have to worry about 'The Avengers,' which was a present-day story," he explained. "We have present-day bookends and bring Cap back at the end, and then I basically hand him off. And 'The Avengers' is its own thing."

Charlie Sheen?s Publicist Calls It Quits
Charlie Sheen's longtime publicist, Stan Rosenfield, has quit his job, after Charlie has spent the week attacking everyone from Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre to AA and CBS.
"I have worked with Charlie Sheen for a long time and I care about him very much," Rosenfield said in a statement. "However, at this time, I'm unable to work effectively as his publicist and have respectfully resigned."
In an interview with TMZ.com early Monday, Sheen, 45, suggested that Rosenfield had previously lied on his behalf in regards to a previous hotel stunt in October.
"I was asleep when that statement went out," Charlie said. "I respect Stan, he was doing the best he could at the moment. Had I confirmed with him, I probably would have come up with something better."
As for how far his ?respect? for Stan goes, Charlie later called Stan a profanity, and told TMZ, "He's not allowed to quit, so you're fired."

First Nicki Minaj and Drake got married. Then they got divorced. After that, Drake claimed he wrote his "Un-Thinkable" verse about Nicki. And now, the two Lil Wayne protégés will star in Nicki's "Moment 4 Life" video, premiering Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV followed by a live interview with Minaj herself.
The question on everyone's minds now is: Will the sparks fly between the two in the clip?
"People have come to be intrigued about us," Minaj told MTV News from the video's Los Angeles set. "And we're shooting the video together, so I was like, 'There has to be some kind of romantic story line.' So we put a few things in there that we don't give away."
Perhaps the pair will smooch again? During her December concert in New York, Drake made a guest appearance and surprised fans when he planted one on the "Right Thru Me" raptress. Photos of the alleged kiss popped up everywhere afterward, but Drake sported a hooded jacket that concealed his and Nicki's faces when they drew close.
According to Nicki, she and Drake are just friends, which she insists often despite his flirty responses in interviews. "This is someone that I'm gonna hit on the [phone] later today, like, 'What's up,' " she said. "It's a family affair when it's Drake."
Drizzy, on the other hand, has always had something different to say.
"It is [about Minaj], I'm not gonna lie," Drake explained when asked about his verse on Alicia Keys' "Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)" last year. "The concept came from a conversation that we had, or conversations we have. I wrote it based off two things: Number one, based off that, and then two, based off Alicia and Swizz and their situation, and it just seemed fitting. It was like the perfect concept."

If you think you're excited about the news, well, you should hear "Shore" star Pauly D talk about the gang's upcoming trip.
"I've never been to Italy, and it's always been a dream of mine," he told MTV News on Tuesday night. "I'm excited to see my roots. I have family in Italy, but I don't speak with them since I don't know the language. My mother still talks to them, though. [And] I know Vinny has family there. But none of us have ever been. It's gonna be fun."
Of course, no voyage of self-discovery is complete without overcoming a few obstacles. So while he's excited, Pauly is also aware that he and his "Shore" mates will probably run into the occasional, uh, cultural issues when they arrive in Italy. But he's more than ready for the challenge.
"I'm nervous, I'm not gonna lie," he laughed. "I don't know what gyms are like over there, I don't know what tanning's like, I don't know the food, and the language — I don't even speak Italian. Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone or something.
"And they got some nice clubs out there, and the women ... they're real Italian women, you know?" he continued. "Since I don't speak the language, I don't know how I'm going to talk with them. I'm hoping the smile does the trick. The less words the better. I'm looking forward to the challenge."
Despite the cultural differences and the language barrier, Pauly said that he can't wait to start filming the new season — cameras are scheduled to start rolling this spring — mostly because it means he'll get to hit the road with his best friends, which, to him, at least, is the best thing about being on "Jersey Shore."
"I really love being in Seaside [Heights], I love being in Jersey and I love being at home," he said. "But I also love traveling, and with this, I get to travel with my lifelong friends and that's another memory we'll all have together."

It turns out Oprah has a half-sista from another mista! Oprah revealed on her show Monday morning that she has a half sister, named Patricia, whom she did not even know existed until last October. Charlie Sheen?s Sin City Spending Spree
It?s no secret that he?s a fan of excessive partying and Charlie Sheen reportedly dropped $26,000 on hookers during his recent trip to Las Vegas.
According to Radar, the ?Two-and-a-Half Men? star paid one escort named Ginger $10 grand for four hours of crazy sex.
When she got to the $40,000-a-night Sky Villa at the Palms Casino Resort, Ginger noticed that Sheen was enjoying some nose candy.
A source explained, ?Ginger said Charlie was high on cocaine when she got to the room and continued to do drugs in front of her. He was totally out of it and clearly had been partying all night long."

With the new season of "American Idol" premiering Wednesday, you'd think Jennifer Lopez would have enough on her plate. However, the singer/actress is working hard at a full-blown musical comeback as her brand-new single, "On the Floor," featuring Pitbull, premiered early Tuesday morning (January 18) on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
In the track produced by RedOne, Lopez commands the dance floor over a techno beat, which incorporates a sample of Kaoma's worldwide hit "Lambada." "If you go hard, you gotta get on the floor/ If you're a party freak, then step on the floor/ If you're an animal, then tear up the floor/ Break a sweat on the floor/ Yeah, we work on the floor," she sings.
Jenny fans got their early fix when the demo for the Pitbull-assisted tune hit the Internet on Friday. Later that day, Seacrest sent Lopez fans into a frenzy when he revealed he would debut the finalized version of the track this week. Lopez is expected to make a radio appearance with her "Idol" co-star on his radio show Wednesday. "Fun talking to you on the carpet last night ... look forward to catching up Wednesday morning on air!!!" she tweeted.
J. Lo has been teasing fans about her collaboration with super-producer RedOne (Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and "Bad Romance") via Twitter. "I see u @RedOne_Official! We're making BIG things happen 'On the Floor' this new year!!!" she wrote last week.
Back in November, RedOne spoke to Blackbook magazine about his studio sessions with the singer, saying, "Musically, I'm trying to combine all the elements that [make] her who she is. We connected, and it was easy to work together. She's in another headspace. She's very positive and content. She knows what she wants to do."
In addition to "On the Floor," the entertainer's viral clip for her buzz track "Good Hit" also surfaced online. In the minute-and-a-half clip, the Latin bombshell instructs her all-female class on the latest in "Advanced Fierceology/ Work It Out 101."

Garrett Hedlund has already scored some unforgettable memories on the set of his Beat Generation flick "On the Road," but getting heartthrob tips from co-star Kristen Stewart's rumored flame Robert Pattinson is not among them.
MTV News caught up with the "Country Strong" actor on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday (January 16), and while he admitted that they chopped it up when Pattinson popped by the "Road" set to visit his lady friend, he didn't score any gems on how to handle his budding screen-idol status.
"You're trying to milk me for great little things; I got nothing on it," Hedlund shrugged to MTV News' Josh Horowitz. "He'd come out to set a couple times and visit. It was great."
The "Tron Legacy" actor had fun hanging out with the world's most famous onscreen vampire, but added that he sympathized with all the attention Pattinson has to grapple with constantly.
"People just sort of hassle him around too much," he said. "He's a good guy, real good guy, and he gets a lot of people following him around. It's not an easy thing."
Aside from seeing the effects of "Twilight" mania up close, Hedlund recently dished that filming "Road" had some trippy moments, including the last night of production when the actor spent time with 89-year-old Carolyn Cassady, the real-life inspiration for the book's character Camille.
"She was just so wonderful and so genuine to all of us and so happy to be there. At the end of the dinner, me and Sam Riley ... walked her hand in hand up to Vesuvio's, the bar where all these guys used to drink at. I remember the sole of her shoe had sort of come undone and started flapping, but I took off my boot and took off one of the socks and put it over the shoe so it intacted the sole. So we kept on walking," he said. "It's such an incredible, mind-blowing night."

Getting special recognition during the course of the evening, Matt Damon was toasted at the 16th annual Critics' Choice Awards in Los Angeles, California on Friday (January 14).
With the always-swanky ceremony taking place at the Hollywood Palladium, the "Bourne Indentity" star was brought onstage by Emily Blunt and Jimmy Kimmel to receive the fourth annual Joel Siegel Award.
The honor was bestowed upon Damon, a renowned actor and philanthropist, as a way to pay homage to beloved Good Morning America film critic and BFCA member Joel Siegel, who lost his long struggle with cancer in June, 2007.
Other big winners at the Critics' Choice Awards included "The Social Network" as Best Movie and Natalie Portman as Best Actress.

On the heels of the announcement on Wednesday that Eminem has signed Slaughterhouse to his Shady Records imprint, members of the group are beginning to speak out about the deal. Crooked I has already alluded to Shady giving the group a "bigger stage," and Royce Da 5'9 summed up their collective feelings in two words: "We're excited." And now, in a video interview with rap website Real Talk NY on Thursday, group member Joe Budden weighed in.
"This group was put together for a reason, and we had a lot of things in common," said the Jersey City-bred MC, poised in front of a mixing console in an undisclosed recording studio. "And we were passionate about a lot of things that it just so happened that Eminem [was] just as passionate about."
According to Budden, the deal with Shady Records took "a little over a year." Typically, recording contracts don't take nearly that long to hammer out. He attributed the length of the process to members of Slaughterhouse already being industry veterans with separate careers, and the fact that their 2009 self-titled LP sold well, perhaps giving the group leverage in negotiating their contract.
"We didn't send a demo in," he said. "We was four pretty much established artists that have been around for a little bit so ... we put out an album that did well, that sold 85 percent of what we shipped."
Despite how long the deal took, Budden said Shady was the label Slaughterhouse wanted to align itself with ever since the group was consummated in 2008.
"Very early on, the four of us agreed that Shady would be the best place for the group to be," he said, "before our first album was finished."
In very unspecific terms, Budden mentioned Royce Da 5'9's past relationship with Eminem being a factor in the deal getting done. The Detroit natives collaborated often in their early careers, but had a falling out in the early aughts. Royce famously warred with Eminem's D12 crew on countless tracks over the years, until finally reconciling with Slim Shady in 2008.
"It was way too much sh-- that went into it," Joe said of the Shady signing. "It was very deep."
On camera, visibly weary of talking about what may have slowed the deal down, Budden instead tried to focus on the positive.
"Just the fact that Em is so passionate about the project," he said. "It's one thing to get a record deal, and it's one thing to get a record deal with someone who gets it. And he gets it. So it's something we're all excited about and we can't wait to get in."

Jaime Pressly arrested for DUI
